The surround sound for this movie is indeed monaural. The Onkyo decoder just shows it as left surround only.

The video was quite good I thought for this disc. It was the first time I'd seen it and I must say its left an interesting impression of DVD on me. :)

I've narrowed down the strange audio. There is a left, center, right and left surround signal, but no right surround signal. I'm not saying that there is any audio in the left surround, but the signal is there.

If anyone knows what AC-3 decoders are supposed to do when they see only one surround channel, let me know. It may be that the decoder sends the one channel to both surrounds.

We are going to watch this movie tomorrow night, so I'll have more to review then. The audio is really 4.1, or maybe just 4 channels of audio. There is no surround information according to my decoder.
