So the saga begins.....

I was in the market for a new bed. I wanted something extremely comfortable and stylish. Below is the result!

The bed frame is from Ethan Allen and is made from Maple, in Cinnabar color and is called the Plantation. I would put up a link, but their site is spewing errors.

. I bought the bed because I loved the look and also loved the construction. The bed rails attach to the posts via a long shank bolt and barrel nut construction method. This makes the bed very sturdy, easy to take apart and since there are no screws, nothing to wear out.

The mattress is supported by for support slats, each with its own center post for support to the floor.

The mattress is from European Sleepworks in Berkeley, CA. I heard their ads on the radio and they were smart enough to have a properly registered domain name. I went up and fell in love with the mattress. You can read more about it on their site, but basically its a very non-allergenic, very comfortable, very adjustable bed that does not rely on air, water or some other gimmick. The main difference is in the box spring, which has no springs actually, but rather arched slats that give with pressure. You can control how much each slat gives, thus adjusting the support down the box. I was amazed by how much this made a difference!

You can sort of see the slats in the top right corner of the mattress picture.

I hope you found this little story useful if you are in the market for a new bed. I am very pleased!
