I’m a flixer!

Yes, I finally signed up for Netflix.

For $20 a month you get a selection of around 30,000+ DVDs. You choose what you want and they mail it to you, in 2 days. You can have 3 DVDs for as long as you like. When you send one back in the pre-paid envelope, the next one on your list automatically ships.

Truly a great use of the Internet. For about 5 movies you get as much as you want, or as little, and a huge selection to choose from.

Edit: Curt posted a link about Netflix also.

Update:Sent my first DVD back on Saturday, got my replacement today. Turn around time from Salem has been good. Sent my second disc yesterday, they got it today.

  1. You’ll have to let me know how your turn around is on dvds sent back and a new one sent out.. I cancelled my subscription a while back, because it was taking about 5 days for the turnaround to happen. (like I’d send one back on Monday, and be lucky to get it on Saturday).

    If it’s better, I think I’d resubscribe again. 🙂

  2. I’ve been a Netflix member for a couple years. When I send a disk back on Monday (assuming it’s not late Monday), they get it Tuesday and ship out to me same day, which I get on Wednesday, even though they estimate Thursday on my account info on the website.

I’m sure the speed depends on where you live in relation to their closest facility. Their main HQ is in Los Gatos, about 10 miles from where I live, but they have strategically located facilities across the US (number of those unknown).

  3. Ya.. I used to live in the bay area, and I miss those fast turn arounds.. I heard recently they opened a warehouse in Salem, so I’m curious as to Steve’s responsiveness.

Although I guess that doesn’t solve my problem of never seeming to have 2 hours of time to watch a movie. 🙂
