When downloaded in Safari results in a broken Java applet with the __MACOSX Folder. If you download the zip (download link to disk) and process it manually, the java applet is properly reconstructed.
To clarify, the applet will load and run, even though the resource has been stripped (it’s buried in the __MACOSX dir and shows as file type Application).
I’d lay odds that other applications would not function when the resource fork has been stripped in this manner. That just happened to be the file I downloaded and found the problem on.
The file I downloaded did not run when decompressed by Safari. I got an error. It ran fine when manually decompressed.
